Anybody know what LED voltage rating is for the Viper alarms? I'm talking about the one that gets mounted inside car where it's visible to show status by blinking.

i believe that DEI is still using 2 volt LED's.

outtaluck72 and auex, thanks. I bought a couple of red 2V LEDs at Radio Shack.. Not sure what MCD rated LCD to get so I got two, 800 and 120. As I mentioned in another thread, Viper's blue LED is too bright for my taste and I wanted it to look like the Honda's security light, so that's what looking for.

I hope you purchased a *defused* angle LED for your purpose.

LED intensity is specified in terms of millicandela (mcd). The LED that is rated for 800 vs 120 is obviously alot brighter, when viewed at the correct angle.

Teken, the 120 MCD version I purchased is defused and is just the way I like it, and on the other hand, the 800 MCD variety is not defused and it's almost like a red spot light.

That is good to hear you have at least one LED that can be viewed very well at off angles.

Alot of people make the mistake of buying the ultra-bright, or super bright LEDS, with out first asking if the housing is a defused variety.

Which enables the person to be view the LED from 45'degree angles, without the lesser light output.
