I am in the process of installing a keyless entry system in my 99 Nissan Frontier. I am having a hard time find the horn wiring in the steering the column. The best I can figure out is that it is wired through the airbag circuit. I have unplugged all other connectors and the horn still works. I am somewhat afraid to mess with any of the airbag wiring and connections. The wiring diagrams that I have do not see to have any details on the actual wiring of the horn system. Does anyone have any tips for me? Any clue where the wiring for the horn is located? If it is running through the airbag plug is it safe to tap into the circuit in this bundle?

Thanks

Brad

Hey I never did find a lite green wire with a red tracer. The only brown I could fnd was in the airbag loom, and I have been told that that wouldn't be it and not to mess with it. Anybody got any ideas?

So its Lite GREEN/ Black now? that is funny, there doesn't seem to be a consensus on the color. I did try unplugging all the plugs at the steering column excluding the airbag, and the horn still worked. Guess I will have to go back and look again. I will provide a picture of the column and plugs next I open it up to help explain what I am talking about. Also, it is negative output, I checked that at the relay.

Thanks

Brad

Horn runs through the airbag harness on nissan's. Only test for this with a multimeter!!!

That is what I suspected, because everyone kept telling me to look for the either a Light GREEN/ red(or black) or a solid BROWN wire. I never found either of the first two, but there is a brown wire in the Airbag loom. I was hoping there would be some sort of redundant wire somewhere else in the column? Any ideas on that? Is it even safe to test my meter? Or should I just leave well enough alone and not risk blowing the bag? Any reccomendations? I would wire it at the relay but its mounted in the main fuse box under the hood and I don't want to open that up because its too much work. Any ideas?

Thanks

Brad

If you are worried you could always run a relay to the actual horn itself.
