Hi There, got a problem. (obviously)

I got a remote starter for Christnmas, and I attempted an install, everything works great, as long as the key is in the ignition. What I didn't realize at the time was that this vehicle is equiped with the Pass Key III system.

Now I'm a professionall installer (or was about 5 or 6 years back) but not in the busness any more, so of course I don't have access to the dealer/installer manuals etc. that I'm used to :( but either way, still very capable. But before I go mucking around with that Pass Key system, I was wondering if there are any way to easily (or not so easily) by pass this system for a remote starter?

What type of vehicle are you working on? Certain Pass Key III vehicles have bypasses available that interface with the vehicle wiring and don't require a key in the dash. Other types require that you put a spare key programmed to the car in the dash somewhere so that it sees the signal while remote starting. A good place to look would be bypasskit.com you can see a lot of different info on what bypasses are available for what car etc.. Or like I said let us know what car your working on and we can probably recommend something. Good luck,

Hey isk-ck, I installed a codealarm r/s unit in wifes 2000 venture with passkey III. I used a model pkg4 bypass in it and it seems to work great. It seems the experts on this sight say that the bypasses that require a key inside could give you a problem in cold weather. This one doesn't require a key and was easy to hook up. I picked it up at the local retailer/install shop at the same time i bought the r/s. here is a website that is on my paperwork ( www.freetechinfo.com). Maybe worth checking out. hope this helps.
