Has anyone run into this. I put a remote starter in an 04 Grand Prix. It works fine but since the install once in a while after using the remote the guages won't work. If you turn off the car for a minute and restart they come on fine. I used ign 1 to pink, ign 2 to white, and accy to brown. It won't do it every time. Of course I am the bad guy on this. I can't figure out anything. I was going to try to unhook ignition 2 but I can't think of a good reason to do so. If anyone has run into this please let me know.

What did you use for your bypass module. I had the same problem with an 03 Jeep GC where the dash lights and instrument gauges stopped working and I just unplugged the bypass module and plugged it back in and all was good. Seems that the software in the module did not like something in the databus link between the two. If anything, change out the bypass module to a different brand or a newer version and see if this cures the problem.

I used the Trilogix PKG5 ver. 8.11. It appears to be the only one that will work with the 04 Grand Prix. I guess it could be a security issue. Its like the cars ecm locks out the guages. It could also just be a glitch with this car but like I say now its my fault.

Could also be a CPU malfunction on the remote starter. Everything could look like it's working, but there will be a cold solder or a weak ground connection somewhere on the board. Try replacing the remote start CPU with another one ( won't cost you anything if the one that is in there is good ) and see if the problem persists. Can't loose anything and if it works, then you have a happy customer and a lesson learned 04 Grand Prix remote - Last Post -- posted image.

I've done a handful of 04 Grand Prixs and haven't had any issues like you describe. (no comebacks of any sort yet..) I would say the same as Jeff assuming you double checked everything else start swapping stuff to see if it makes any difference..Also any thing you unplugged check for any bent or missing pins. I am curious though, where did you pick up the white ignition 2 wire? I have yet to find an ign 2 wire on the new grand prixs and have tested every wire coming off of the ignition switch..Not even a white wire coming off the switch..Is it a thick wire or thin like the rest of them? Good luck be sure to let us know what you figure out!
Mike
