A friend of mine has a 1987 Mercedes 560SL.  The stock speakers are getting pretty ratty.  He's removed the speakers, and on the back, it says "4- or 8-ohm compatible".  He has the stock Becker radio/cassette player.  I think this head unit is meant to be used with four-ohm speakers, but I wanted to see if any of you could confirm this.

Also, everything I've found says that his car uses 4" speakers in the front, and 4X6" in the rear.  Pretty common sizes, but he's concerned because Crutchfield doesn't list any "easy-fit" speakers for his car.  Is there something weird about the stock speaker sizes in a 560SL, or is Crutchfield's catalogue just incomplete?

Thanks,

Scott Gardner

They should just drop in, as far as the independence goes I would test the independence of the factory speakers with a voltage meter to determine their independence. If you have any unanswered questions I would contact this guy http://shop.store.yahoo.com/walters-store/services.html he is a Mercedes radio specialist and should be able to answer any questions you have.
