Optima batteries

Optima went down hill when they were bought out by Interstate. I would suggest you look into Hawker / Odyssey http://www.odysseyfactory.com they also manufacture the batteries for Stinger http://stingerelectronics.com/web/homepage_industrial.asp

If you’re going to spend the money and do the upgrade why settle for the 2nd best!

I meant would upgrading it be worth it?

The Optima Yellow Top battery is deep cycle battery, in the simplest terms. It can be depleted over 300+ times, down to 35% with out sulfication, or plate failure. Because the battery is AGM based, it can be mounted in any position. Because of its nature and composition the battery also has a very low internal resistance. ie. It will recharge very quickly, it will also release more CCA than a standard SLI battery based on the same group size. The Yellow Top is also sealed, meaning that it does not vent gases in the same way as a SLI battery. But do not confuse the battery as being ventless. The battery does indeed incorporate extreme pressure relief valves, if the recombination is excessive. They are the 2 recessed grey vent plugs on the top. The most important aspect of a deep cycle battery is its ability to withstand repeated deep cycles with out ill affects to its operational service life, or current output. ie. If you deplete a SLI battery only once to 35% of its capacity. The service life of the battery will drop by 30%. So if the battery is suppose to perform for 5 years without faulter. Because of only one deep cycle, 1.50 years has been taken off, and so on. This is the abridged version of what the battery can, do. Regards EVIL Teken . . .
