Hey everybody,

I have somebody that wants me to install a keyless entry/remote start unit.  He does not want an alarm, but if it's cheap enough he will take it.  He does not want to spend much money at all.  I was looking at a Crimestopper or Bulldog unit.  They seem to be in his price range.  I guess my question is are these two products reputable.  I mean are they reliable?  And also I plan to wire them up myself and he would like some kind of warranty.  My next question (of course) is do these two products offer any kind of warranty if not professionaly installed?

Thanks

dont know about the warranty but i have sure heard of Crimestopper and Bulldog both being reputable....at least thats what i hear.  Bulldog is cheap but is good enough for what you want to do.. Crimestopper is probaby a little better.

I've installed 3 Bulldog units. One keyless entry, one
keyless entry with remote start, and one remote start
add-on. The first two I mentioned worked fine for about
6-9 months, and then started malfunctioning (and it
wasn't just the battery). They basically worked on and
off, and then just died out. The remote start add-on
seemed to work a little better because I added it to
an existing alarm, so you really didn't use the remote
that came with the system.
As for the warranty, I think Bulldog's is pretty good.
I'm pretty sure it's lifetime, so if you have a problem,
you can just mail back the unit to them, and they'll
fix or replace it at no charge.
This was my 1-year experience with Bulldog.
