I want to put a remote starter in a 2003 camry. It is my fathers car. I have did alot of installs but I have a couple questions for you guys. First question what is the best remote starter for that car. The majority of remote starters I have put in were command start brand and I have had great luck with them but know i have heard they have changed hand and don't make such a great product. The secound question is on this camry it calls for a second starter wire and that confuses me. Does this wire have to be powered the same time as the first starter wire or is it like a ignition wire and has to be powered in order for the first starter wire to function properly on remote start. Any info on the remore to put in this car and my starter question will be appreciated as I have to travel accross the province of saskatchewan to do this install and don't want to have any problems.

Thank you murraymurray

I sell and install Commando brand alarms and remote start systems. I dont know if this is the brand that you were referring too but I have used them for almost a year now and have yet to have one to come back. They are very reliable and have great installer friendly features. Not to metion one of the best priced brands out there! The second starter wire on the Camary must see 12 volts when the main starter wire sees 12 volts. Some units have a second starter wire/ignition wire that can be programed for which ever one you need. If so use that. If not use your starter wire output to control two relays to send 12 volts to both starter wires. Good luck on your install, and give Commando a try.

msake sure you buy one from a place that will stand behind it.
asl around here first. there are sites out there that people are having problems with....
they cant get anyone to call them back when they problems and so on....

AutoStart or Compustar has been very good to me so far. Good solid warranty and also good solid products. For the starter wires, do as Brian suggests. Also, the Camry has the Immobilizer key on the car so you will need a bypass module for the installation.
