I am installing a stand alone r/s on this vehicle. 2 problems: where do I get the activation pulse? I am using a 555f module and can't get it to learn the key. Where is a good tach connection?

Thanks

Don

Yes I have two keys and still can't get the bypass to work. This 551t is a stand alone r/s which means I need a negative pulse to activate it. When I hit the remote x number of times it should start. I am not finding a place to do that. First time you hit the lock, they lock. Any subsequent pushes and it just chirps the horn twice. I tried picking it up with the horn wire but it doesn't seem enough of a pulse to activate it.

you need a ground while running, use a relay to tie it with the ignition switch

86-ignition

85-groung

30-ground

87-to bypass module

but during starting with the key you might have to run another relay  to kill the ground while running relay because the vehicle might not start if the ecu senses 2 key programs.

try to use another relay, find the key sense wire (normally provides a ground with the key in the ignition) connect it to 85  pin- 86 to ign.

cut the 85wire (ground while running relay) in half then splice a wire to one side of the cut wire and connect it to 30(key sense relay) the other half of the cut wire would connect to 87a of the key sense relay.

using a single relay he could connect the ground on the bypass to pin 87a, ground to pin 30, 12 constant or ignition to 86 and the keysense to 85 if keysense is ground, if keysense is positive, connect keysense to 86 and ground pin 85 that way when a key is in the igntion it will break continuity on the bypass module.
