installing a sub backwards

is there any wiring tricks as to mounting a sub with the magnet facing out verses the traditional mounting method??

  I have a 15 in my truck mounted like that and i dont hear any difference in sound. Except i was told when u wire it to take the positive form the amp and go to the negative on the sub and do the same with the negative from the amp to the positive on the sub. I think it looks cool and i dont hear any difference
