Im trying to devise a way to make my side marker lights (or running lights? not sure of the US terminology!) fade on when the switch is pressed on the dash, and then fade off when the switch is turned off. Basically, I just need a circuit which will fade a 12v filament bulb on when a current is applied, then fade it off when the current is removed.

Is there a simple way to do this, maybe using capacitors? The duration of the fade only has to be 2-3 seconds.

Thanks in advance
