I have 2 12" Kenwood's in a sealed box and was thinking about porting it.  The box is a prefab but to the 1.5 cubic foot specs per sub. My box is in the trunk of my car and I wasn't sure if ported would sound good back there. So should I or shouldn't I?  Any suggestions are appreciated.

What type of music do you listen to??  If you listen to a lot of rap, keep it sealed for a more punchier, tight bass.  If you listen to a lot of hard rock and heavy metal, go ported.  The vibrations will stay within the box a little longer allowing more of a "boom" every time the subs hit.  My box is ported and specifically tuned because the subs I work with sound better and perform better in a tuned box.  If you have the KEN something 3005's, just stay with a sealed box, it'll prolly work out better.  Hope that helps...

Hell no you shouldn't port it. If you think it sounds like trash know wait till you port a box that is too small. IMO never port prefab boxes. You can play with the box you have to make it sound better. Through some old phonebooks in the box and see if it sounds better, if it does then the box is too big so do something to take up space. Then through a dacron(not feather) pillow in the box, if it sounds better go to a fabric store by some dacron and stuff the box with it.
