I just got a Pioneer AVX-P7300DVD refurb unit and I am afraid it is DOA...

Can anyone tell me if these have to be connected to another unit to even power up?

Connecting battery and acc (red and yellow) to positive on a battery and black to ground gets me nothing, no lights, sounds..action...won't eject the screen, take a disc anything...

I tried connecting it to a Premier DEH-P900R head unit and a GEX-P7000TV unit I had here to the same results...

Does this unit have to be connected to an AVM-P8000R or AVM-P9000R to even power up?

As long as you know it's working, that's fine for me.  You guarantee not DOA, correct?

I have no way of powering it up to get the screen open. it will not power up on it's own, you need a pioneer deck or brain to get it to open. I can send you a picture of the closed unit if you really want it but there's not much to look at.

So, you're saying it will only work with the avm8000r or avm9000r?

Can it be controlled by an IPBus headunit?  I was looking to use it with one of the new DEH-P8600M units.

No it can't be because the AVM units have all the audio and video outputs on there for system expansion. It also does control the AVX-P7300DVD player so your SOL without the brains. As faar as the DEH-P8600M, you will have to consult with Pioneer for the compatibility issues with this unit.

Thanks for everyone's help.  Turns out, they sent me the wrong harness.  Once I got the wiring sorted out, the unit works fine.  I plugged the IPBus into a DEH-P900R I had around and it was able to do some very basic control of the dvd player, I am pretty sure the newer Pioneer head units like the AVM-P8600MP I am looking at that list dvd control as a feature will offer more control.

The harness they sent me was for a Pioneer Head Unit....green was actually black, etc.
