I installed a stand alone remote start system in a 2003 toyota camry back in dec.of 2003. I installed it in my girlfriends fathers shop and my girlfriends father decided to give me a head start on the project by getting the car ready for me with out letting me know about it. He had cut the starter wire and was going to use 3 ring terminals to connect the starter wire and start wire from the remote start unit together---don't ask ---anyway to make a long story short -I had to cut the ring terminals off and use a piece of wire of the same gauge as the starter wire and butt connect the three wires together. The remote start system works beautifully but now after all of this time my girlfriends sister who owns the car is telling me that when she tries to start the car with her key-being that it's warmer now- the car hesitates on the first try and starts on the second.Could that be from the starter wire being extended a little-because I know in some cars the wire is pre- determined in length and can't be extended-I would have only tapped that wire as any m.e.c.p certified pro would but I thought I would just ask any more expierienced guys or girls in the field for there opinion. thanks sean

Adding an inch or two (or a foot) of wire will not effect anything. Either the connection you made is failing, or something unrelated is wrong.
