Hey guys...
How much does fiberglass weigh?
I know its kind of a silly question and all because it will totally depend on my layering etc...
But for example, I have an 3/4 MDF box right now... its real heavy... If I were to do a similar layout, would it be lighter?
Can I just expect for my trunk to be a gallon of resin and a few yards of fleece heaver?
I'm sure I've already answered the question...
Just curious thats all.
Thanks

It would be lighter in the respect of if you had a whole trunk made using mdf for your subs, or if you had it made in fiberglass. All around it would be lighter and stronger then mdf if you braced and layed it right.

it will be lighter, but don't expect huge weight savings. as a rough guess, you could weigh a gallon or two of resin (don't really know what size box you would make), and all the fleece, and fiberglass you would use, but that will still come up shy, as you will probably install MDF rings to mount your sub to, and probably bondo the exterior to get it smooth. As well as ports, and whetever else you will add.
