98 Civic's Keyless entry is not working. Just before the system failed the door locks, interior light, and panic horn alarm all were activated and would not stop. When it finally stopped the doors would not lock or unlock with the use of the keyless transmitter. The lock actuators are still operational within each door because when the interior system door lock is pushed, the locks react electrically. Any ideas as to what failed would be greatly appreciated.

The keyless does run through the factory radio(wireing only). Does the interior light still work? If so then try to reprogram the remotes.
Actually the keyless entry is built into the factory radio.

Hello, I understand that keyless entry for a civic 98 is built into the factory radio.  Does this mean that every 98 civic that has factory radio has keyless entry feature?

I just bought a used 1998 Civic LX that has a factory radio installed, but there is no keyless entry feature. Do I just need to buy the keyless transmitter to activate it ?

Thanks
