just curious...have you tried cleaning this Nak unit?  the pickup may indeed be starting to weaken and go out of tolerance, but more often than not problems like this stem from poor maintenance....

theonly maintenance ive done is clean it with a cd cleaning kit once two months ago. Am i suppose to use something else? or more often?  Hey also check out my other post   nakamichi 40z - Page 2 - Last Post -- posted image.  280zx  alternator  nakamichi 40z - Page 2 - Last Post -- posted image.   I need a high output alt for my 280 zx turbo Called many shops and emaild cant find anyone who carries it.  any info  is greatly appreciated.

never.....ever.....ever... use one of those stupid cleaning kits in your car stereo, knocks the laser out of alignment, the reason it's not working may very well be that the cleaning kit screwed it up.   Seen it a million times in home and car audio.   Take it to a service center and have them clean it the right way.
