I want to use 4-6 LEDs for my alarm (basicly red, and will flash when its supposed to flash). How do I wire them (never wired LEDs before but know how to wire other things, so like resistor values and what not)? And what would be effecient as to avoid battery drainage. I am assuming im going to need a relay of some sort, just not sure which kind.

Use your starter kill NEGATIVE OUTPUT WIRE. Diode isolate and use a relay. Your LEDs should not cause a battery drain unless your battery needs to be changed.

a relay is a good way to kill the battary, i dont think i would recommend more than 2-4 leds to be on in a car that is not running for any extended period of time unless they are in a series relationship.

Yea thats what I was affraid of, the relay killing the battery. Well I figure I can put 1-2 on the alarm LED output wire. If I put another 1-2 on the wire you mentioned without a relay but diode isolated I should be ok?

You can do that but your light will be weak...
I meant- use the relay for your starter kill.... just diode isolate your (-) output from the alarm....
The most LEDs I ever hooked up was 2 along with little flashers..... it never died!

Ok so perhaps a stupid question but how do I go about buying LEDs, like lets say I do 2 LEDs on the - output from the alarm what would I need to buy. 2 LEDS (what type/voltage/etc) and what resistors.
