How strong is bondo ?

How is strong is bondo compared to the actual fiberglass and resin combination ? Is it stonger thinner or does it matter ?Fortune: You will continue to take chances, and be glad you did.

Bondo is not meant to be a reinforcement layer. It's only used  to smooth out finished work. Fiberglass is a much stronger material than bondo is.Jeff

if u use bondo properly u can fill in pretty deep with it, again like was said about it is not for reinforcing, mearly feeling in and smoothing. I do not suggest using it to make any boxes (that mustang wasn't exactly what I'd call a proper use of bondo) but if you use bondo to mold/sculpt the shape on the outside of a box or panel u can use it to about 1/8" thickness before it starts going to crap on you. A good method to use if you have a thicker area u need to build up would be to lay a layer of bondo (fairly thin, bout 1/16-1/8), let it dry and lay a layer of fiberglass over it, then repeat this process till u have the desired height, sand down, and finish.
