i want to replace my dei siren that seems to hate moisture even when i just wash my truck. are those sirens defective or just sensitive to moisture? never had a problem with other sirens. my main question is this, how many sirens can i wire into the alarm before you need to use a relay, i have a viper 350hv and would like to use 3 or 4 sirens. if you need a relay will all sirens chip on and off or just at full trigger.just wondering about the chirpng i really dont mind the sound.

it will realy depend on the siren output of the individual alarm. some (especialy dei) will have a pretty high out put  enough for at least 2 or 3 sirens. and yes they will all chirp together. if you want to be really loud get an air powered  horn and hook the siren output to a flasher then to the horn, this can easily wake up a city block.

Prior to installing the siren into its location. Drill four holes into the bottom of the sirens cone housing.
You will drill one hole in the center, the three remaining holes will be drilled on the outer circumfrence in a triangle pattern / shape.
This will reduce the amount of collected standing water in the cone housing, which is evaporating up and into the motor assmebly.
Remember, no matter how much you drill, it does not replace the importance of having the highest mounting point which is protected from splashing water, along with the siren pointing down at all times.

siren pointing down at all times. drilled holes about three days ago and just rained tonight so i will find out tomorrow morning if the siren holds up. thanks for the tips.do the same for your side mirrors, drill a hole or two under the mirror, keeps water draining while you wash your ride and wont splash water when you are done drying your car and take off.

2 sirens max on a DEI, more then 2 require a relay. There will be a time difference on the tones and chirps between the sirens. I have 5 sirens and it doesn't bother me at all. Also fuse all your sirens independtly with a 3 or 5 amp fuse, this way if some one tries to short one of the sirens it will blow the fuse for one siren instead of all.

Another thing you should ensure is that the siren(s) ground point is affixed with a SS (stainless) screw, dielectric grease, and a star washer is placed underneath.
The star washer will ensure a stable and secure ground plane as time goes by, as rust starts to form. Using dielectric grease compound will also promote current transfer, reduce moisture build-up, and help you to have a long lasting installation.
Applying all of the above will ensure 10+ years of secure service for your vehicle.
A little effort now, will reward you will consistent performance.
