Powering components

I have read, and heard, that it is not good to power components using the deck. Any coments on that?Alpine CDA-9833 HU

I disagree.  There is nothing wrong with using "deck power" for any speaker.  It's all about what you desire.  If you listen at moderate volume levels and are not trying to shake windows three blocks away, there is nothing wrong with using deck power for the mains.  If you find yourself turning it to max half the time then yes, an amplifier is probably better for you.  My wife's system uses the output from her Panasonic head to drive Focal components and she loves the way it sounds.Support the12volt.com

you can use the deck power without ill effects, and I notice that you run a pioneer deck which is nice because it rates in with very low distortion levels on the built in amp, at least as far as decks go, but an amp still has a much lower distortion level than any deck, so you will always be better with an amp, but it is not nessasary.double-secret reverse-osmosis speaker-cone-induced high-level interference distortion, Its a killer

i have all my interior speakers powered by my alpine deck and they all play the way i expected. granite with an amp they won't distort nearly as much at high volumes but you learn how high to turn it up without distortion or clipping. the pioneer deck will make it better also by all the options and settings you can adjust to get the right sound to them and the right frequencies. also you can put bass blockers on the front speakers so they will produce mid bass and highs (depending on the resistance and bass blockers) and this will give less distortion to those speakers and in my opinon sound better than without. i have bass blockers on my fronts (mainly because they are 3.5's) and the bass is still nice from the back speakers and the fronts spit out awesome mids and highs.94 Pontiac Sunbird 3.1 V6
