ok but if i get a 1501d i can keep the gains like 3/4 so i dont ever really beat on the amp, right?

Probably but from what i have heard from people on here and actually at my local shops there isnt much SPL difference between using a 1501 and an 801 maybe just a few more notches on the volume nob to make up for it and that way your not beating it as much its also cheaper than the 1501D too and you had metioned not wanting to spead too much

yea you can find a 1501d on e bay for like $330

unless anybody thinks that there might be anything better for this sub , around the 3 to 4 hundred  range

True True I guess i'm thinking brand new cause i can get that amp for 350 brand new so i guess its up to you.

I guess what i'm saying is that ive heard an 9500 with an 801D on it and it sounded just as loud as mine does with the 1000 watts on it so i guess it comes down to the money you want to spend

Make sure when you get your amp you see this forum for info on setting gain.  Using a number like 3/4 or 1/2 or even 1/4 is completely arbitrary and has nothing to do with proper gain setting.  Cheers!
