The wire is WHITE/ black at the brake switch arm above the brake pedal. It is a (+) output wire when the brake is depressed. Attach this wire to the foot brake input wire on the IVA-C801. With the hand wire you ground this wire and install a toggle switch between the ground and the IVA CPU to replicate the engaging and disengaging of the hand brake.

Thanks for the reply Jeff.  It was working for a while (it was playing the dvd in the dvd player) but now it's not.  I didn't touch any wires after it worked.  I can't seem to figure it out.  Maybe I should let you  know that my dvd player is a panasonic one and it has a hand brake wire too and I have that with the iva handbrake wire.  I'm starting to give up and let a professional do it but I really don't want to.  I know that it's not much more work left to do.  Would you know what I have to do to get it working again?  Where can I look at to trouble shoot?  Can it be a blown fuse in the braking system?  Anything can be of good help now.  Thanks in advance.

Did you solder the connection to the switch that you had ? Make sure that you have the proper wires from both units hooked up:

• FOOT BRAKE wire from Alpine to foot brake on Panasonic
• HAND BRAKE wire from Alpine to hand brake wire on Panasonic

The Panasonic didn't have a foot brake wire.  It only had a hand brake wire.  The hand brake wire from the Panasonic and the Alpine I have soldered together.  The foot brake wire from the Alpine I have pinched with that connector that is included with the unit to the foot brake.  It worked for awhile the other day but then it stopped.  I can't figure it out.  I'm pretty sure I have the right connections because I didn't touch any of the wire after I got it to work.  Any clues as to what might be happening?

Check that connection again where you made the foot brake coonection witht he supplied T-tap Alpine gave you. Actually, take that T-tap out completely and solder the connection from the Alpine to the foot brake. I think this will solve your problem and another thing is to make sure that you go through the sequence properly everytime power has been disrupted from the ignition you have to go through the sequence again.

I always do that sequence part everytime the ignition is off. 

I have made sure that the connection is good but I guess it is worth a try to solder the wires together, but I don't have a solder.  Well, thanks for the help. 

The ignition has to be on in order for the units to work.

Yeah, the unit is on when I do try to do the switch.  I will try to re-connect the wires to the foot brake and maybe the wires to the hand brake.  After that if it still doesn't work then I am lost.  It would be such a big waste of money if the unit doesn't end up working.  Thanks.
