I am planning on installing a power tailgate lock on my 2003 F-150 and connecting it to the Viper 881xp. Can I add a switch to permit me to unlock the tailgate from the cab and still keep the doors locked?
Thanks.

I did something similar to this w/ my '03 F150.  Check out the post over at f150online.com

As for adding a switch, I'm guessing you want a single momentary push button to open?

Thanks for the info. A momentary push button is exactly what I was thinking of. Now, the question is, how to wire it up?

Lock and unlock, or just unlock?

Last question...

Do you want the push button to be independent of all the other lock/unlock switches?  I'm thinking you want just that...a button on the dash, push once to lock, push it again to unlock...

Right?

Actually, I was thinking about trying to use a separate switch to lock/unlock in conjunction with the regular door lock/unlock button.

Ok, if you have OEM keyless entry then you'll be sending negative to the lock/unlock wires from the alarm. To install the taillock you'll have to use this setup just to move the unit. You probably know this already. Then doing this should work.. Anybody agree?

IF however you don't have OEM keyless entry then you'll be using the 5-wire reverse to l/u everything (tail included). To add the momentary switch you'd have to use another 5-wire setup where the pink & green wires would now be the wires going to the tail motor AFTER the previous relay.
@@NOTE: the lower relays would NOT be connected to the alm leads like the COPIED diagram states. Those should just be connected to the momentary switch.

Obviously these relays could all be bundled together using the same positive since they should never be flipped at the same time.

Oooops.. After looking at that I realized the normal hookup of the tailmotor is just to tap off the L/U motor wires in/near the door.
The OEM keyless entry DIAGRAM changes now to

The 5-wire setup stays the same (since it just builds off this one).
Sorry for the confusion.
