Ok I have a 96 Civic and the factory PDL dont work.  I have an alarm that can control it.  The two wires from the alarm are connected to the switchs LCK/UNLCK wires.  This is a Neg. system!!

My Question:

How do I wire the alarm to directly control the door lock actuators?? or do I need to add relays so i wont loose switch control?? How do I do either one of these??

Thanks in advance!! I have been burning out trying to get this one- so any help IS appreciated

yep i checked fuses, replaced actuators and PDL (power door lock) relay and checked the switch.  I did all of the obvious things.  I thought i had mentioned that i already connected the 2 alarm wires to the two DL (door lock) wires......(checking)....yup! i did mention that!  I need to bypass all that b/c there is a problem somewhere!  Someone help!!

Put a link up to your old post, I am sorry but you have no clue what you are doing and should leave this to professionals. I mean I put up the troubleshooting section of the factory service manual and you still couldn't fix it. Not trying to flame, but you probably shouldn't be doing this.

I waited a couple of days and nothing.  Thats alright though.. the boy doesn't kno what hes doing... but he just fixed the F-ing door locks! The problem was a broken wire inside the door jam connector (BTW.. how many cars have connectors in the door?). most just run straight thru?? am i the only one who didnt know this, must be b/c nobody asked if i checked!

does this site have a page to see all posts that the user is participating in, i can never find my old posts unless i search

After that statement I would have to agree with auex because most newer cars have plugs in the boots because it makes it really easy to attach doors on the assembly line and all the installers I know that know what they're doing would have checked there right after they checked the fuses. Also try to keep in mind when you are asking someone for help on here they are not looking at the car in front of them. If they as you for more info it is because they do not fully understand your question but do want to help you. It's probably not the best idea to respond to their questions with wise remarks.

I thought i had mentioned that i already connected the 2 alarm wires to the two DL (door lock) wires......(checking)....yup! i did mention that!

Note that you never told anyone that the doorlocks did not work at all even from the switch or keycylinder both of which would have been key pieces of information. From all your descriptions one could assume that you just hooked the lock and unlock wires up wrong which is quite possible if this was one of your first installs like many people on here it is.

I agree with you that I did not describe the problem well enough. I could have spelled it out in a detailed step by step description like I did in the 1st topic I posted.

After that statement I would have to agree with auex because most newer cars have plugs in the boots because it makes it really easy to attach doors on the assembly line and all the installers I know that know what they're doing would have checked there right after they checked the fuses.

I was told to leave it to pros., I though after so many stars & posts, there would be some pros. on here but, nobody mentioned that to me after they ALL asked if I had checked the fuses in my 1st post? https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=38156&KW=door+locks&PN=0&tpn=1

(which, BTW is the first troubleshooting method) If this fact is well known, why doesn't anyone say anything until I mention exactly what the problem was, then its..you didn't know that, everybody knows that??  Im not trying to be wise about it (that seems to work around here), but what would you reply to that, after all I had done and still confident that you can find the problem?
