I was just offered (what i think is) a pretty good deal on an OLD rockford amp. its a punch 160 (or 460) trans anna. I'm only 21yrs. old and have been working in this field for a few years now. this is before my time, so I don't know much about this amp. I know its a 4 ch. amp and the specs say its 20watts RMS X 4 and 40watts RMS X 2. A co-worker of mine said even though they're rated pretty low, they are some beefy amps.  The model number might be wrong,  The guy told me about it over the phone and wasn't too clear. Just wanted any opinions on it.

My opinion is those old RF amps rock. I just recently brought my old Punch 40i out of "retirement" to power a pair of speakers in the front end. For a small amp its rock solid.

It's a real honest to god true blue Rockford amp, definitely under rated. Use it and enjoy.

I never got around to one before, but i heard lots about it. Most of the ones i try to get my hands are damaged or refurbished and dont work. If i get the chance to use one i would.  Those old punch amps are good for heavy duty subs? or are they just for smaller applications?

They're plenty good for heavy duty work.  In fact, I liked my old Punch 200 so much that when I got around to putting a system in my new truck I specifically went and got another one.  $100 for a Punch 200 off of Ebay.  Works great and pushes my 2 Solobaric 10's plenty hard enough for me! :)

Really, that seems interesting. Do you have the specs on the amp?
You know if they'll be able to push 12's of say 500 rms dVcs?

I think you're going to need just a tad more amp for a sub rated at 500 RMS.  what do you think about this amp? - Last Post -- posted image.
