ok just to make sure i am not just going blind here. on a 2000 chevy impala i am trying to locate the orange or brown acc. wire that is from the ignition but with no avail i can't find it. any suggestions?

one other question.

Door LockORANGE / Black (-) 480 Ohm Resistor
Door Unlocksame Wire BCM under Driver's Dash (Negative to Unlock)

so all i should need to do is put a 480 ohm resistor on the lock side and nothing on the unlock side and tie them both into the same ORANGE / Black wire?

  • The wires you want for the main connection are located in the ignition harness which is located at the far right of the steering column, behind the ignition switch.
  • Lock and unlock use the same wire. Lock requires a negative trigger with a 470 ohm resistor in-line. Unlock is negative trigger. Must use relays.   The wire is located at a gray 24-pin plug @ BCM.
  • The BCM is located above the brake pedal. It is a plastic box with three plugs that face the firewall.

ok, when i search in the bundle of wires that run up into the steering column ( also attached is the air bag wires) the only wire that comes close to matching is a small gauge brown w/ white tracer, which doesn't meet the criteria.

ok let me know if i confuse anyone. the installation book for the alarm states that on the door lock connector has 3 wires green, red, blue. it says that green puts out a (-) Lock, (+) Unlock, red is 12v (+) output "not used" and blue  is (-) Unlock, (+) Lock.

The door locks on the car are (-)

which way do i need to hook up the relays and do i need to use diodes?

  • ORANGE / BLACK on Impala -------BLUE wire on alarm unit
  • ORANGE / BLACK on Impala -------GREEN wire on alarm unit with a 470 ohm resistor in-line
  • ----------------------RED wire on alarm not used because the Impala uses a (-) type A door lock system.
  • No relay is required for this if you Diode Isolate One Wire With The Band Facing Towards The Alarm/Remote Start Module

Green wire requires the the resistor but the diode can be on either wire. Put the diode on the BLUE and connect both wires to the same ORANGE / BLACK wire. You got it !! Post your results
