We're about to install an Avital 4300 in my son's 2003 Silverado- Class 2 Data Bus, Passlock II. The Avital 4300 has starter relay kill, door lock/unlock, dome light supervision, remote start, shock sensor. Looking at all the cables that attach to the main unit and the instruction book I can tell it's going to take several days to install it completely if we hunt for every factory wire separately. I've seen posts here referring to PLDATA, GMDATA, 456G, GMDL4, 555L, and I'm sure there's more. I'm having trouble deciphering what each particular interface does. DEI's website shows no hits when I search for 456G- very unfriendly website layout.

I'd prefer to buy one interface if possible, two if I must, that takes care of as much tedious wiring as possible. Is there one interface that does more than the others? Which are the interfaces that are easiest for a complete MORON (me) when it comes to security systems?

And no, paying someone to do it is not an option here. We're going to do it ourselves, do it right, and enjoy it the entire time, even if it kills us. ;)

Thanks for any input on this.

Notes:
NOTE: This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L. The passlock II wire colors are yellow, black, and RED / white (not used). *1 The BCM (Body Control Module) is under the driver side dash. *2 If Directed module part #456G is not available, refer to directfax document #1601. On base model trucks the lock wire is lt. blue (-) and unlock wire is white (-). They are in the lt. blue plug at the BCM. *3 On base model trucks the door trigger wires are in the lt. blue plug at the BCM. On 4dr trucks the LR door trigger is lt. blue/black, and the RR is lt. GREEN/ black. They are in the purple plug at the BCM. Use all wires and diode isolate.

Thanks for the reply. I've got The Disk 3.0, so I've got the wire colors.

If I get a 456G do I also need to get a 555L?

yes    the 555L bypasses the Passlock system and the 456G bypasses the factory security (alarm) and allows for keyless integration..... both these modules are user friendly and easy to install....

Thanks. Is there one interface that takes care of both at the same time? And, am I missing anything by using just the 456G and 555L together (is a 3rd interface needed or desireable?)?

not missing anything.... 555L takes care of passlock and the 456 takes care of the class II issues.....

there are other modules available but i rely on the DEI modules to work the first time, grief free.....
