i installed a head unit in one of these and bypassed the amp behind the glove box. way behind the glove box.  anyway i unhooked the negative batt cable and also took the airbag out to get to it easier.  everything went well with the install.  when it was all done. the check engine light was on but turned off the next day.  a couple weeks later the dash lights and turns signals and brake lights don't work.  according to a phone call i got from the owner.  its at the dealer now and apparently its not any fuse.  what i want to know is according to the dealer they cant do any diagnostics because of the aftermarket radio. does dodge now have a databus II style obd?  anybody heard of this?

We have bypassed two of those bastard amps. Its totally sucks! Your problem is unique. I wonder which wire on the factory radio is obd? It only takes a 2 min to install the factory radio again. The factory amp should have nothing to do with that?!? Mel
Someone pass me that bottle.

Hmm. Interesting. There is no data interface on the trucks...yet. However, the Magnum and 300c are a good sign of what is to come on the Dodge platforms. They have begun to adopt a lot of the European automotive technology into the NA platforms, so there are actual CAN+/- wires going into the deck to control power up, illumination, and God knows what else in the future (like VW has been doing since the 2003MY on their cars). More than likely, something has become unplugged or compromised in the bypassing of the amp. I would personally take it all apart and double check everything. There are no driveability problems I'm assuming? Just lack of indicators, correct?
