I have room for 2 10" subs in a 2 cubic box under my rear seat or I can put 1 12 in a small sealed box in the middle of the seat. Will the 10" subs sound better, or just louder. I know they will have more surface area but cannot hit as low as the 12's, any sugestions. I can spend about 300 on either 1 12+ s/h. or 300 on 2 10" subs + s/h. any sugestions. I have a 1995 chevy extended cab, kenwood excelon deck, kenwood excelon 5 1/4, kenwood excelon 6X9's, Kenwood excelon 811D to power the subs, 1 ohm=1000 watts, 2 ohm=800 watts.

thanks

What are you looking for out of the system.....

If you want loud..go with the 10"s and build a ported Enclosure to the specs of the subs....

If you want Sound quality go with the single 12" in a sealed Enclosure built to spec...

Thats just my advise..

I would go with one sealed 12" a little lower hit and you are in an extended cab.  I would suggest a JL Audio 12w3v2 it will pound you right out of the cab..

Thanks for the advice, I went down to our dealer, they deal in jl audio, alpine, kicker, eclips, planet audio, orion, phenix gold, and rockford. We tried everything it took me about 5 hours. I finally went with a rockford punch stage 3 2 +2 ohm wired at 1 ohm in a rockford slot ported enclosure. All I can say is o my god the base is so low and hard that it hurts. i am hitting 142db and thats no lie have all the mic paperwork to prove it. sound nothing like  I could have emagined.

Thanks to all

Looks like you did your homework and put the time and effort in the shopping to get it like you want.  Good job.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

thanks alot, I would recomend these subs to anyone. I know everyone loves jl audio, and I almost bought one until I heard it, The jl sounds good and has tremendous bass but starts to destort at around 600 watts. I would have loved to get the alpine type x but. I would have had to make my own box or pay 200 for theirs. For nice sq and lots of spl this was my grandest choice.

Put 1 12'' Rockford Fosgate PUNCH series in there, (HX2), and you'll blow yourself out of the car. They aren't that expensive and they'll do everying you want. DEFINITELY under $300, maybe $150 on ebay. That amp would be perfect for it as well, running at 2 ohms.
