ok, 04 galant in the shop today for a start. after i completed the install, i got a "crank, crank, crank..." seemed like an obvious transponder problem, right? swapped out 3 u boxes with new rings and harnesses and got the same thing. finally decided to tag the vehicle transponder wires directly from the u box (i've had no problems doing this on many mitsu's) and i got the same "crank, crank, crank," BUT... if i let the remote start wait for the second try, it would fire right up! runs fine, no security light or anything. now i have to go in on a sunday to try to figure this out. i have a tach and it's programmed, brain has been swapped... any other ideas? i dont want to spend my day off f**king with this thing...

Put the key in the cylinder and leave it in the off position. Then try remote starting it. If it cranks right up on the first try then it is the placement of the ant ring. If it still does the same thing then I would check all the connections and triple check the tach wire. Also did you do anything with the key sense wire?

btw... i have replaced the ring by tagging the transponder wires directly. after the 3rd u box, i figured it was worth a shot... and had better luck.
