thank you, its finally clear for me now. what if i just switch the harness around with the loop at the sensor side?    also, if the shop hadn't cut the green wire, will that wire just come out of the brain and not connect to anything? maybe they cut it figuring i wouldn't need it.

With the loop at the sensor end, the green wire coming from the brain will be loose in the harness. They may have cut it off (don't need it right now.... make it go away syndrome) Putting the loop at the sensor end should make your warn away chirps magically appear.

can the 12v and ground on from the 508D connect to the 12v and ground from the shock sensor? or do i need to supply the 508D with its own 12v?
thanks for all your help by the way.

No problems that I have noticed by grabbing 12V and ground from the shock harness. The current draw is minimal, as far as I know.
No problemo
