I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee that I would like to put a remote start on, but recently having a problem. I have to put the key(grey covered end) in the ignition, flip it on and off 5 times, and then it will start right away.
Even if I put the key in the ignition and turn it to on for a few seconds, it won't turn over. I bought it used 2 years ago, and it only came with one key. Has anybody heard of this problem, and could it be the key?

probably in the receiver for the key cylinder around the key as chrysler sentry keys are one of the most secure

Have you had the ignition wires looked at ? Was it like this from the day you bought it or has it progressively gotten worse ?

No, it just happened a few months ago. Somebody told me
it was the fuel pump seal, another told me it was the programmble key. I may need to inspect the ignition wires, and test them to make sure they are operating correctly.
