Easier Tach Wire

I am installing a car starter into a 1993 Chevrolet Astro Van

My sheet says to find a white wire form the distributor. This easier said then done as that crappy engine cover inside the van is almost impossible to remove. Is there any source near the front of the engine I could tap into???

that year should have a test plug on the fire wall or under air cleaner with white wire you should be able to get it there.  hope this helps
