I have never had a Chevy's CHECK ENGINE light go on because I didn't power up the BROWN ACC wire. This wire doesn't power anything up that is necessary for the truck to operate properly other than the wiper's, radio, etc......

Most of the dealerships around here just clear the code for you when you bring in the vehicle for an oil change. They will tell you that the light tripped and there was no other problems and they clear the code for you. It doesn't take any time for them to do this and if your in good standing with the dealership, they will do it for free.... hopefully.

Actually, 05 Duramax needs the brown accessory powered.... it powers the cluster, wipers, radio is bussed. Also, Class2 Crapaliers and Sunflowers like to see the brown powered (no second Ign, just 2 Accy.)

Would a 99 s-10 2.2 be the same as the "crapalier" with these wires?

Hey Gus, if not powered, do you know what errors you would get ? Aside from no working dash & wiper's/radio ?

to all those who replied to my post...thank you.
I went by autozone today., and they reset the code for me for FREE...I was honest with them and they weren't busy...if they are busy, i'm sure one can just go in and ask them to read the code as they have a policy to read them for free. then after reading it ask them to reset it to see if it comes back on....   In my case i just tripped the drivetrain code by unplugging my T-Tap connector and accidently starting the RS. As for the 2nd Access, it wasn't required in my situation...
Good piece of info, if you don't have the equipment to reset the code...Autozone/Advance can help instead of dealing with the dealerships.
thanks again to all.

I haven't seen it pop a code on the J-body cars ( I think that's what they are properly called...), but on the Duramax, it came up with a "charging system error" or something to that effect on the cluster. Powered the Brown accy, and away it went. Might be just the Diesels... haven't seen it on the 05 gassers.
Kinda one of those "safe than sorry" issues. I do the extra accessory on the cars as more of a just in case situation. No second ignition on them anymore, may as well use that second ignition output for something.

Did you really use T-Taps for your ignition \harness connections?
