VW Beetle Remote Start -Air bag light

Has anyone experienced the air bag light being triggered after installing a remote start in a VW "new" Beetle? If so what's the cause and more importantly, whats the cure? Any answers will be appreaciated asap. Thanks

Usually triggered by a missing ignition or acc wire not being powered up at the right time. I've seen conflicting wiring diagram about a BROWN / RED wire that requires to be powered up as a 2nd IGN wire.Jeff

What year Beetle? The BROWN / red is the keysense/radio acc. wire. Now, there could be many factors at play. I had a rather incessant airbag light in mine which turned out to be a poor repair under the driver's seat on behalf of the dealership (I hate crimp splices). Also, check the wiring in the column... very small, easily disturbed wires for the airbag circuit. It just may be a coincidence. Sometimes, I think a MIL is part of the interior lighting package on VW's....... there is usually one on at any given time. Gus Wherever I go, that is where I end up......

Directechs dosen't call for any 2nd ign, acc or Starter wires. The remote start works perfectly, heat comes on, turns over fine etc. Plus I'm 99% sure there weren'tany other wires available coming off the key cylinder that could have been ign, acc or starter. This happened to 2 customers, both work done by 2 different and educated installers. Both customers were sent to dealers to have the computers reset. Just posted here for personal info and /or if we see these customers back or if it happens in the future.

VW's are simple that way..... one of everything at the key, with the radio feed being on it's own. It dosen't take much to set a MIL on those cars... I set one by pulling the glowplug relay while looking for the trigger one time on an 04. Good times. Having owned a NB, I know they are fairly prone to Airbag lights, usually it's the driver's seat or steering column that is causing grief..... probably coincidental. If you ever looked at the wiring under the driver's seat, it's tiny and has a fairly stiff insulation on it.... not too good for something that moves once in awhile. If the owner of the car rarely moves their seat, and then you move it back and down, it candisturb it enough to set a code..... whoohoo. Quirky little cars,those VW's. could starting the vehicle with the lighting(headlights/parking lights)and what ever is nextto it...I forget switches unplugged possibly caused the code to be set? I know I've seen somethng similar happen to a Volvo...air bag light set after removing somethng and having a component unplugged.

i put an XM radio in a 05 Vibe yesterday and unplugged the airbag light on the dash and now the airbag light is on.   does that have to be brought to GM to be reprogrammed?

oh ok so i should always reconnect airbag light harness when i turn the ignition on?

I didn't touch the seat other than to adjust it so I could get in, and I don't see that as being the cause of the issue, especially since it(throwing the air bag light on after remote start install) happened to a completely different vehicle and installer the same day on an 03 convertable Beetle at a differnt install location. Its just "bugging" me (lol sorry I had to say it) to find out why an identical situation happened to some one else on virtually the same car(and coincedentially the same day).
