Hello all,

I recently put a remote start alarm in my friends 2000 Durango.  I read about needing the diodes to arm and disarm the factory alarm.  Well I went to radioshack and picked up the diodes to get as close as possible to the two number I needed and it didn't work.  So I installed everything and everything works great.  Except about 3 days, the factory alarm goes off and starts honking the horn and disables the starter.  Since we live in sussex county NJ and don't have any issues with theft, I want to just disable the factory alarm all together and eliminate the whole issue.  The remote start has it's own starter kill relay.

So my question is,  anyone know who to permantly disable the factory alarm?  I read the factory manaul and didn't see anything.  But I know there has to be a way.

I didn't leave any wires hooked up to disarm or arm the factory alarm so it seems like the factory alarm somehow arms itself after a while.

I think the dealer can turn off the alarm with the DRBII computer.

there is no way to desable by do some crazy combination of things like turning the ignition on and off three times type thing.  Like disabling the seat belt minder.  Or pulling a fuse.  I was thinking about maybe even just grounding that wire that you have to put the resistors on, permanently.

or is it possible to just hook up the aftermarket's alarm's disarm wire with a diode to the green factory disarm wire in the car?

Just curious about your disarming wiring that you used with the resistors..... did you use relays & how did you set up the relays ( both of them ) ?

I did in fact use two ralays.  I do not have a copy of the diagram that I used to follow, but I did use two of them.  If I remember correctly, I used the lock and unlock output from the aftermarket alarm to triger the relays.   But that didn't work.

What does the factory disarm wire that is on all aftermarket alarms do?  I know that it provides a negative pulse when you disarm the arm, but does it also pulse when you remote start?  If so I could probably just put a diode on this wire and put it straight on the factory alarm wire.  And that way it is just always being repeativly disarmed.

Using the lock & unlock wires will not work. You have to use the DISARM wire from the remote start unit and the REARM wire if you want to retain OEM functions of the alarm system. The more important wire to hook up is the DISARM for remote start purposes but if you want the OEM system to act like it did before, hook up the REARM wire as well.

DISARM from the remote start,  can the ORANGE wire be used for that?  Orange wire on mine is the Ground when start,  I don't have the manuals in front of me, but I am pretty sure the alarm only had one disarm wire, but then there was the Orange wire.

Alarm and remote start are one module,  there is only a remote start relay satelite.
