tweeters and parallel wiring

Once again probably a silly question but, once I was advised that running a set of tweeters in parallel to the midrange speakers would not overload the deck....In fact the exact wording I believe was "As long as there is a capacitor on the tweeters the source will not se the additional load." I installed the tweets in the above manner and verified with my DVOM that at the deck there was still 4 ohms in the circuit however after one deck stopped working the second deck i feel runs a little warm... I am wondering if this is coincidence or if this connection is incorrect....thank you for any help on this matter.

Your connection is incorrect.  If your tweeter and your midrange are both 4-ohm speakers, then when the tweeter is receiving a signal (when you capacitor, which is a crossover, is allowing the tweeter to receive the high frequency sounds) unless you have also used the correct low-pass crossover for the mid, both speakers will be connected to the amp placing a 2-ohm load on it.  If it is a head unit, a 2-ohm load is too low and could damage the amp.  Use a proper 2-way crossover for this kind of application.

so i guess the question is now why was it showing a 4 ohm load at the deck with my DVOM?

Because the crossover places the tweeter into the circuit only above a certain input frequency.  Your ohm meter produces DC and was only "reading" the resistance of the mid.
