I installed a lcd Remote Starter / Alarm everythind was wired fine SO I thought, When tried unlock /lock the doors it work next thing you know the unit started smoking, I check the lock/unlock wires again w/dmm... it only shows a increase of 2-3 volts when triggered I used the wires per a wire sheets even checked the other wires in the door

 POWER LOCK

 LIGHT GREEN/ RED (-) SEE NOTE *

 AT SWITCH IN DRIVERS DOOR

 POWER UNLOCK

 GREEN/ YELLOW (-) SEE NOTE *

 AT SWITCH IN DRIVERS DOOR

Any input on how it should be wired, Or something I might have overlooked will help a lot. ThxWire 97 Maxima Door Locks -- posted image.

You have the correct lock and unlock for the vechile. To reasure you, programing the double pulse option on the unit would not have damage it.
You do not need to put in diode for doorlock on this vechile to have it work.
You do not need relays either.
The only way I can foresee smoke coming out of the unit is that you either have a +12V positive connected to the lock and unlock wire of your remoter starter/alarm unit or the unit is defective.
What type of remote starter are you using?
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.Wire 97 Maxima Door Locks -- posted image.
