I had a APS996a alarm installed. My brother has a APS996c.
I read on this website that the only difference between these alarams is the wiring. The question I have is that my brother can start his truck manually with the key then let's say he wants to run in the house while the truck is running he can hit the remote start while the truck is running and take the key out to keep his for For Explorer sport running. When I try this on my '03 Dodge ram it does not work. Can my alarm be defective or not programmed right when it was installed? any info is appreciated

you alarm has that same option too, to activate make sure that your foot is not on the brake and all the doors are closed, then press the start button twice and that should be it.

I have tried it numerous times and I cannot get it to work. My brother aslo tried it without any success. The same person installed both of ours. He told me to bring it buy to take a look at it. I just can't take it to him until next week so I was trying to see if I can find any solutions before I take it back to him.

it will not work if it is set up for voltage ie tachless operation. have him run a tach wire and learn it , turn on the tach mode and you are all set
