I have a DEI Viper 791xv and also have a heated windshield. I don't have that great of a range, which is somewhat of an issue with a paging remote vice a regular one.
Has anyone had any experience putting the antenna somewhere other than in the windshield? With my metalic heated windshield should I be doing this?

the 791 is supposed to work from a half mile away..does it really work that far away..hell no!  i have one and it works far..a good 1000 feet it will work from but thats about it.  also are you in a building?  if youre in a big building all the metal will significantly inhibit the range because it blocks the transmitter code

I was thinking the same thing about the metal in my windshield blocking the signal.
Which is why I was thinking about moving the antenna.

You will want to move the antenna...the same problem can occour with guys (like Me) that have the entire front glass tinted with metalized film (the good stuff) Range will suffer a bit.

Where did you end up moving your antenna to? I also have 3M tint in the car but I'm not sure if it is metallic, I don't think it is.
