Hey all, I've got an 88 Nissan 300ZX.  I just installed a DEI 600ESP and added a dual stage proxi to it.  My problem is the actuator.  I've got dual relays, everything is wired properly per the manual and top technician at a local stereo shop(he gave me the diagram.)  Anyways, I've got the brain installed under the passenger seat, both relays are located right next to the brain, with the 2 wires for the actuator under the carpet and through the door to the actuator.  My problem is the actuator doesn't seem to be getting enough power.  When I hit the lock button, I'll hear the motor move but it won't lock, or unlock.  When wired directly to a 12v + and ground the actuator has enough power.  Do I need to have the relays closer to the actuator???  I would think that the distance wouldn't matter.  I've got 12 guage power running to the relays, 12 guage ground, and 16 guage wires running from the relays to the actuator.  I don't think there should be a problem with the guage being too small.  Any ideas????

are the door panel off when they work fine and you are giving them 12 volt and on when you try to do it with the alarm and relays?  maybe just hanging up and in a bind.. Also check the ground.. you are not using the alarm Neg output to jump terminals 85 and 87a.. 87a should go directly to chassis ground..

87 and 86 on each relay are hooked up to 12V constant.  87a on each are hooked up to ground.  85 on each are connected to the brain, and 30 on each are connected to the actuator.  The ground is about 6 inches from the relay.  I used one of the brackets from the original factory alarm, as I think about it... I don't know how good of a connection it is.  I'll pull the seat out and try another ground.  In the mean time, is there anything else that it could be?  The rod is not hanging up on anything.  It is a very clean setup on the inside of the door skin.

It sounds like a bad connection, or something isn't get enough juice..also, check the relays..but do that after you've made sure they're getting 12V and the ground is good...if it's not any of that....check the brain...

Make sure that the actuator is moving freely inside the door. If the actuator is binding it will make the sound but it will not work and you will burn out the motor very fast this way. Did you test the movement of the actuator with the door panel off ?

tested it, and had an installer from a local shop check it out.  It is completely clear of the door panel.  It's about an inch and a half away from the glass when it's all the way down.  And it is inside the door's frame so it is not touching a thing. 

BTW.....  Where are you in Canada Jeff?  I don't see any info on your page as to where you are located.  I'm just across the border from Vancouver, I live in Bellingham.  Just curious if you are in my vicinity.

get a meter and check the voltage at the actuator when you lock and unlock with the alarm.. that will tell you the voltage and trace back checking the voltage at each connection.. sounds like your ground though..
