A while back when the W7s were first comming out my friends went to get some trainning at the JL facillity. They told me about this box within a box called a whole box or a hole box... I don't remember. You guys ever heard of this?

well, that's either some sort of bandpass box, or it's a waste of wood & space...

I would guess if it was at a jl training tutorial it would not be a waste, and I would bet they were refering to the design similar to thier high output boxes.     I have built a few of these sucessfully, but no where near the SQ that they get out of them.

COuld be a high efficiency resonance chamber tuned to vibrate(not audibly) between a certain frequency range.
If that's the case, these were used back in the day. People put them under their home theater floor and coupled a few 18s/24s to it. Just think, 110+dB at 15hZHole Box or Whole Box? -- posted image. .
