Got a bud that is looking for a CD player that will go into his 94 Pontiac Grand Prix, he has a cassette player but wants a CD players, but he likes the look and interfacing of stock. So no "faceplates", and actual stock CD player. Anyone know the best way about going for this? Thanks for the help guys.

if he wants a stock cd player the easiest thing to do would check out local junk yards or maybe ebay. then only draw back is how old the cd player would be and problems with them. is the reason he wants stock is to keep his factory steering wheel controls? cause if thats the reason they do have interfaces out there that will work with aftermarket HU.

He could use hawn13's advice or, he can purchase a 1-1/2 din unit that will mount perfectly without the use of a kit.

You could try this one.  Go to the live chat (left column) and ask if it will work with that car.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

I was considering suggesting the trunk mountable CD block like that, but I was going to see how possible it would be to obtain a straight stock, indash CD head unit. He likes the look, plain and simple. I even suggested there are ways to make aftermarket work with the car, he just simply doesn't want that unless necessary. I guess I'll try calling the dealer to see what they have.
