it seems like youre working on this blindly w/o a DMM. if you wont have one, invest in one and learn how to diagnose problems.

i own a couple of multimeters and know how to use them. I just dont know much about relays and this is my first remote start alarm install.

put your meter across the ignition output of the brain. try remote starting and make sure your getting your +12 volts. If your ignition is not getting powered during the start sequence then it will not run. Leave the vehicle's starter wire uncut and attach just the purple wire to it. this should allow the remote starter to activate the starter and the key should still work.
