With Kicker L5 or L7 since you listen to Rock and Alternative I would recommend a sealed enclosure around 1.25 to 1.5 cu.ft per sub. Maybe even smaller.  What amp will you be running and which ones the L5 or L7?

I agree sealed enclosures will give you the tightest response. However if you are using small amps a ported enclosure will give you that bump you may be looking for.

get the right amp to power them and get a nice sealed enclosure, it will sound great and the sealed enclosure is going to take up less space than a ported.

dont buy that kicker crap if you want quality sound. too much money for too much slop. theres way too many options for sound quality.

I run kicker and I have to agree. If SQ is what your looking for, then Kicker is the wrong route to go. If you want SPL, then I say go for it.

if u have a good amp with sub-sonic filters and set crossover right a port'd box will sound good if tuned to the right freq.
Where theres is a wire there's a way.
