the GMRC-01 has a speaker built in for the chimes. the GMRC-02 sends the chime out to the left front speaker. if you adding aftermarket amplifiers to run your front speakers you want to use the GMRC-01.

My experience is that if the guys doing the work don't know which part to use, go elsewhere if you can.  They should be able to tell you which is appropriate for your vehicle.  If they don't know about this, what else don't they know?  Post the year make and model of the vehicle and you'll get some help.

So is that really the only difference?  crutchfield.com says that the gmrc-01 will work in my 05 Colorado but the gmrc-02 won't.  I would really like to have the chimes go through the speakers and I'm not putting in any amps just a new head unit.  Any ideas why they say it won't work.
