if the amp is on with the key off then you have the remote wrong or some stray wires on the amp. did you use connectors or just bare wire?

have you tried unplugging the RCA'S and see if it still does it? or swapping out the amp for a new one? what about swapping headunits? or trying a different set of rca's all together?... process of illimination man... car audio knowledge is like 30% installation 30% skill and experience... and like 40% troubleshooting! lol

This could be caused by the remote wire hooked to a constant sorce,   why do you not have the remote wire hooked up to the deck?
Power being directly intruced into the ground, look to make sure no live wire are touching your grounding spot, or ground wire.
Did you use a harness or just hack the wires off?
There are alot of possibles depending on how much time went into the installations.

I used the wire harness that came with the deck after purchase, specifically for the vehicle.

It would appear that switched power is only switched power when it wants to be,  somewhere in the stock vehicle wiring there is a short that will turn my switched power on randomly, which with the deck off, and the amps on is a big problem, as some of you know.

I think I fried the HU with the RCA's grounding through it I think, is the deck salvageable?  I replaced the fuse twice, but the second time the HU was starting to smell like it was burning up

I used connectors and or harness everywhere.  The only wire splices I had to do were power for the ipod hookup and the remote turn on for the amps, I spliced into the switched on wire lead that goes to the Headunit..  Definately seems to be the vehicle wiring, not mine, at least I hope.  I will let you guys know if bypassing the vehicles wiring fixes it, hopefully get to attack it Saturday night.
