Mazda RX-8 6spd, Compustar 2w900fm-as
ive tested my connections:
starter, 12v, ACc, ignition, door trigger, ebrake, brake. i think this is all that NEEDS to be connected for remote start to function..
anyways, ive connected all of these, and the sensors all work well but the compustar will not see that the car is turned on when i query thru the remote.
if i try remote starting while the car is running to see the error code it gives me, it gives me the 'key on' error instead of the 'engine on' error... and the icon of the exhaust on the remote has yet to light up, indicating its not reading the ignition is on?
am i missing something big here? i will park, pull handbrake, turn key and the car will turn off instead of go to reservation mode. it has never gone to reservation mode..
is there some extra connection i NEED in order for the unit to understand the ignition is on? thank you

the system does not know if the car is running.  usually done through the tach wire.  check to see if the system has a tach wire or VSS wire.  otherwise the system will only see that there is 12V on the ignition but not know that the car is running.  all this assuming you have the transponder bypass installed.

no transponder bypass, i will just leave a key in the dash (is avoiding leaving the key in the car the reason for the transponder?)
i do not have the tach wire hooked up yet so thats probably the case i see, i didnt know i needed that just yet. thanks.

For manual transmission vehicles you still need to go through the ready mode in order for the system to remain running. Have you successfully got the system to engage into ready mode ?

no it hasnt activated ready/reservation mode yet. it wont recognize that the car is even on, i'll hook up a tach wire and see what it does then.
