i put an acelle pacage consisting of a dvd player, fm mod(audio) and 7'' drop down screen in three diferent customers vehicles and im having the same problem in all of them. with the vehicle off, the picture is clear but with the vehicle running there are lines that scroll up the screen. they spead up with the rpm's.(video noise). i know that the dvd player is causing the noise because when i unplug the video line going to the screen the picture&noise go away. ive tried noise suppresors, high end video wire, grounding the video outer wire(ground), different power location, good ground evey thing i can think of.......helps appreciated..........thanx acelle video -- posted image.

Make sure that your power wires for the dvd player are well away from the signal cables. It dosent take much for the 12 volt "noise" to be induced onto your signal wires giving you bad picture and sound. Hope this helps. brian

I had the same problem in my new Jeep...posted on here about 10 times and never got any help...just all kinds of people telling me that my RCA & Video were TOO CLOSE to my power OR telling me that my ground wasn't grounded well enough...

What it really was though the whole time was my alternator was not strong enough to give a clear power signal to the componets such as my PS2 and DVD player. I could have either bought a high-output alternator for around $300 or run everything to a Yellow Top Deep Cycle OPTIMA that I installed hidden in the back hatch. The only thing is about that is since it is not hooked up to an alternator it only lasts about 4-5 days before it has to be recharged...which is easy, you just hook it up to a battery charger for a couple hours at night in your garage and it is good for another 4-5 days.

The bottom line is that the power source that is coming in is bad...if money isnt a huge concern I would buy a Red Top OPTIMA battery to replace the stock battery and a HIGH-OUTPUT alternator as well...that would take care of the problem. The Red Top battery is the one you want to hook up to an alternator, but the Yellow Top Deep Cycle is designed to be drained completely and then recharged and so forth. Hope this helps...

You could try using a power filter, this will wire inline with the power and ground of the units. You can find one at radio shack or at some car audio places. Also you could use a small cap, prob 1/4 farad if you can find one. This method would filter out any remaining ac current running through the wires. You should also redo all of your grounds ( the monitor, dvd player, and the fm mod ). And as far as the stock alternator is concerned I run a bd1000 and a kicker 800 watt amp off of my stock alt and stock battery and my screen works just fine no engine noise through the radio or interference through the screen. Also if the rca's you are using are directional you should double check that they are running the correct way. If you are getting noise through the fm mod (and it has a metal casing) you should make sure that it is not touching any source of ground. It will cause engine noise that could work its way into the dvd player and into the monitor.
